On the following pages you will find lists of deities in each of the pantheons outlined in the menu. Each entry will have the name of the god or goddess, or the variations thereof, and a blurb about their abilities and / or attributes.
As a side note on choosing deities - I don't ascribe to the "all gods are one god" mindset. I don't believe that the gods and goddesses were meant to be all mish-mashed together, and is in all reality rather rude. They all have their own pantheons, their own personalities, and, their own enemies. So, my advice on deities is to pick one pantheon and stick with it. Get to know your gods, before you start calling on them.
Having said that, one ...problem?... I have come across in researching various cultures and their pantheons is that many of them began as a tribal "country", having many small city-states that each had their own "main" gods and various others. Some cultures have more than one creation myth because in one these areas _____ god was the creator of all, and then in the next tribe down the road, ______ was the creator of all and everything. Most times, these various gods were joined as one later in the cultures development, with a new name or with a joint name...such as Amun-Re from the Eqyptian pantheon. Something to keep in mind when you are going thru the lists and see more than one god/dess designated as creator of that particular culture.
I don't pretend to be a scholar in this field, in fact, being human, I'm entirely certain that these aren't perfect. Some may even be completely befuddled. I have yet to find 2 books that agree on much when it comes to the deities. I've had visitors to my site help me straighten some of the more glaring mistakes, and for that I am ever grateful. So, please, feel free to send me an email if you feel you have some information to impart on the deities (or anything, for that matter).
For my part - I'm still reading and searching for more information. I plan on updating this section with footnotes so the places I gather my information from can be properly credited - it's quite an undertaking though, so please, don't expect it tomorrow by noon.
I hope that in someway the information I have gathered thus far can help you further along in your own journey.
