Aker:
God of the dead. He is the guardian of the gate through which the pharoh passes into the Underworld. He rules over the place where the the Eastern and Western horizons meet (in the underworld).
Amun:
King of the Gods of Egypt. Originally a God of wind, ruler of air. He became a powerful sun-god of Thebes, and was worshipped as Amun-Re. He was eventually made the supreme (king) god in the realm.
Anubis:
In the early period of Eqyptian religion, Anubis is very clearly the lord of the dead, and Osiris the embalmed god. As Osiris' story unfolds, Anubis assumed the role of the guide who holds steady the scales on which hearts are measured. The hearts are weighed against a feather of ma'at - if the heart is lighter it goes on to be presented to Osiris; heavier, and it is destroyed.
Atum
The first of the Gods, the self-created. By sheer will, Atum formed himself out of the primeval waters as a hill. He represents the evening aspect of the sun. Atum created the deities Shu and Tefnut from his spittle.
Bastet:
The cat-headed Goddess, her cult was centered in Bubastis. She was originally portrayed by a wild desert cat or lioness and only became associated with the domestic feline around 1000 BCE. Bastet was a solar deity until Greek influence associated her with Artemis, where she became a lunar deity.
Hathor:
The feminine goddess in ancient Egypt, Hathor was a pre-Dynastic goddess who gained enormous popularity early on. Her cult flourished in Ta-Netjer in Upper Egypt and her priests included both men and women, many of whom were dancers, singers, or musicians - as the arts fell under Hathor's domain. Hathor's protection was invoked over children and pregnant women. A sky Goddess, sometimes represented as a woman with cow's horns between which hangs a solar disc, sometimes portrayed as a cow.
Horus:
The falcon-headed God. A complex deity with many aspects. Some of them are: Horus the Elder, a sky God whose eyes are the sun and the moon, continually at war with Set, the God of evil; Horus the Child, whose frequent depictions as a baby at the breast of his mother Isis influenced Christian images of the Madonna and the Christ child; Horus, son of Isis, avenger of Osiris. In all the Horus deities the traits of kingship, sky and solar symbology, and victory reoccur.
Isis:
Wife and sister of Osiris, mother of Horus. Generally a Goddess of the home and person rather than the temple and priest. After the 26th Dynasty, Isis is increasingly portrayed as a nursing mother, and her cult eventually spread thru the Roman Empire. Isis was worshipped as the divine mother-goddess, faithful consort of Osiris, and dedicated mothe rof Horus.
Ma'at:
Goddess of truth and justice, her symbol is a feather.
Min:
A god of fertility and sexual potency. An ancient God of pre-dynastic origins, he was also the patron god of travelers. His symbol is the thunderbolt.
Nun:
God of the primeval waters. Nun was a mass of water which filled all the universe.
Osiris:
At first the God of vegetation, then fertility and ressurection; later the God of the underworld. Osiris brought civilization to the Egyptians, teaching them the uses of corn and wine, weaving, sculpture, religion, music and law. Seth slew Osiris and dismembered the body; but Osiris' consort Isis, reassembled the body and brought Osiris back to life. Osiris was not allowed to stay in the living world, and was sent to the underworld to serve as king and to judge the souls of the dead.
Ptah:
The creator God. According to the priests of Memphis, the fount of all creation. God of artisans and artists, designer, builders, architects, masons and stone workers. Ptah's consort is Sakhmet, Goddess of war.
Re:
God of the sun, sometimes identified with Atum. He created man from his tears. At one time Ra became so disgusted with men that he ordered Hathor to kill them all. Hathor did this with such zeal that Ra took pity on men and ordered Hathor to stop. Crazed with blood, Hathor ignored the order, and Ra had to resort to chicanery to save humankind.
Sekhmut:
Goddess of war and battles, consort of Ptah. Hathor took Sekhmut's shape when she made war on men. Sekhmut is usually portrayed as a woman with the head of a lioness, sometimes brandishing a knife in an upraised hand.
Set:
Red hair and eyes and pale of skin, Set is the God of evil, drought, destruction, thunder and storm. Set tore himself from his mothers womb in his hurry to be born. Every month Set attacks and devours the moon, the sanctuary of Osiris and the gathering place of the recently dead.
Thoth:
"Thrice Greatest" God of wisdom, music, magic, medicine, astronomy, geometry, surveying, art and writing. Historian, scribe and judge. Thoth's priests claimed he was the Demi-Urge who created everything from sound. It was said that Thoth wrote books in which he set forth a fabulous knowledge of magic and incantation, and then concealed them in a crypt.
