"And it harm none, do what you will"
The Wiccan Rede. There is a lovely poem by Gwen Thompson that frequently goes along with this, but “And it harm none, do what you will”, is the whole of the rede.
Most Wiccans believe this to mean that as long as it doesn’t harm anything or anyone, you can do as you will. But, that is unreasonable and not humanly possible. You kill a cow - and yes, vegetarians kill a plant - to eat, and live. If you get sick, you take antibiotics to kill the germs…well, I bet those germs feel they have been harmed.
I just can’t take seriously a law that says you can live as you will so long as you don’t harm another. It just isn’t possible – well, to me, anyway. Other people can see as they will. Another part of this is the Three – Fold Law or Law of Three - whatever energy you send out you receive back times three. Now, I understand the basic rules of Karma – however I don’t believe in it. I believe every action has an equal reaction….I don’t think it’s going to wander around for awhile and build up speed to come back and hit me upside the head three times stronger.
I believe the things I do will come back to me, I just don’t believe they’ll be three times or ten times bigger than how they started. And, it works for me...you have your own decisions to make.
